Swiss Made since 1915
When we think of the words “Swiss Made,” some of the first thoughts that come to mind are high-quality and fine craftsmanship. Swiss knives and watches are well known products of Switzerland, however another industry has come to light in providing the same craftsmanship excellence we expect.
Caran d’Ache was founded by a man named Arnold Schweitzer in Geneva a little more than a hundred years ago. Schweitzer named his company “Caran d’Ache,” which came from the Russian-born French illustrator named Emmanuel Poire, who used the phrase as a nickname. “Caran d’Ache” is directly rooted from the Russian term “Karandash,” which translates to “pencil.”
Since 1915, Caran d’Ache has been one of the most highly touted companies when it comes to producing writing and drawing instruments. Their commitment to creating and developing the finest pens and pencils using only the highest quality materials has proven to be a winning recipe since the early 20th century.
What makes Caran d’Ache stand out from others?
Ever since their start, all Caran d’Ache products have been produced in its Geneva workshops. Not only is everything made in Switzerland, but also “every Caran d’Ache product is subject to the strictest quality controls, applied both to raw materials and their sources, as well as to the processes used by the Maison.”
The approach the company takes when it comes to producing their products “embodies high quality standards, while fostering continuous innovation and improvement,” all while upholding the “Swiss Made” quality label the country is widely known for.
Our newest Caran d’Ache products
For those who love fine quality and unique writing instruments, our two newest products from Caran d’Ache will certainly satisfy those who have an appreciation for beautiful craftsmanship.
First, we have the “Exotic Pencils of Caran d’Ache: 7th edition,” which is a set of four exotic pencils derived from four different woods. The first pencil is made from Polychrome Sipa and combines red, green, and violet to produce a vibrant array of colors. The second pencil is made of Streaked White Birch and features a cream-colored exterior with hints of brown stripes, which creates a stylized feline effect.
Next in the set is a pencil made from African Assamela, which has a luminous golden yellow hue and banding with a fine grain. Last in the collection is a pencil made of Grey Limba and has a chestnut color that perfectly complements its intense deep ash grey veins.
The second product from Caran d’Ache that we just released is the limited edition “Caran d’Ache Exotic Pencils Wood Box Set.” This gift set includes a reissue of the coveted first Caran d’Ache Exotic Pencils set, now tipped with a palladium-coated brass cap, inside a gorgeous walnut box.
In order to protect and preserve the wood, the box is finished with a colorless wax and features a magnetic closing system that can be used to keep the pencils safe or open for display. The exotic wood species included inside the set are American Walnut, Titanium Oak, Macassar Ebony, and Lati Gris.
These two new products are absolutely perfect for those who enjoy and appreciate premium writing instruments made from interesting woods.
