Andrew Sanderson has returned to Kickstarter with the Modern Fuel Pencil 2.0.
The Modern Fuel 2.0 is a direct result of his determination to create the perfect pencil, both inside and out. His first pencil successfully raised $138,174 with a goal of only $4,000. After some helpful feedback and support, he has created a second Kickstarter project that improves on the designs of the first pencil.
Some of the improvements include a custom designed, 100% metal internal mechanism, new material options (titanium, stainless steel, bronze, copper), and new lead size options (0.5mm, 0.7mm, 0.9mm). Head over to the Kickstarter page to see all the improvements.
The seamless look is still featured in this pencil, as with the first production. Take a look at the gif below to see it in action. Each pencil is blended by hand to appear as one single piece of metal.
This pencil has a simple design that is perfectly executed to create an entirely metal mechanical pencil. I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of engineering necessary to create all the internal mechanisms. I’m also a big fan of the material options, as I have a copper top that has developed a nice patina from daily use. I have a feeling the bronze and copper pencils will age nicely as well.
As of writing this post, the Kickstarter has reached $152,769 of it’s goal of $5,000.
