Pencil Artist of the Week: Ranjini Venkatachari

It’s a new year, and that means a new batch of featured pencil artists. 2013’s first Pencil Artist of the Week is Ranjini Venkatachari, an artist living in Sammamish, Washington. Ranjini has been doodling since she was first able to hold a pencil, and her talents have earned her a Signature membership in the Colored Pencil Society of America, as well as the title of Vice-President in the Seattle district chapter of the CPSA.

Ranjini works primarily with colored pencils, depicting everything from traditional still-lifes to contemporary origami-based works. Her drawings feature an incredible level of detail and colors that are faithful to their real-life counterparts. Her work has been featured in Strokes of Genius, an instructional book series that features drawings and tips from some of the world’s best pencil artists, as well as the American Artist, International Artist and Southwest Arts magazines.

If you would like to see more of Ranjini’s work, you can check out her website here. If you would like to see more regular updates from the pencil artist, you can also follow her blog.
