Pencil Artist of the Week: Shelby Brannin

This week’s featured pencil artist is Shelby Brannin, a third generation cowboy living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His realistic pencil drawings draw inspiration from the natural beauty that surrounds him at the base of the Sandia mountains and his experiences growing up as a cowboy in the southwest.

Shelby’s drawings feature subjects ranging from rodeos and raging bulls to tractors and tranquil finches. Every subject is faithfully reproduced in graphite form with an extreme level of detail that is able to transport  the viewer to a place that was once reserved for western tales and John Wayne films.
