Pencil Artist of the Week: Lou Patrou

Lou Patrou is this weeks Pencil Artist of the Week.

Lou is based out of the Hudson Valley, New York area. He has always been interested in drawing faces and adding decorative elements to them. With regards to his process, Lou says that he starts with a stack of blank pieces of paper and sketches until an interesting idea emerges. He returns the next day to see if the ideas are interesting enough to pursue and develop.

As with the other artists you have featured I like seeing Lou P’s graphite works. It’s different from mine and gives me ideas for more experimentation in the pieces I do.
But, not to detract from the current artist, I don’t believe he has caught up with the expertise I find in another artist whose career I have been following for the past several years.
He works in the gold rush foothills of Northern California where he grew up. I would love to see his work featured in your column as I believe his talent has earned a place there. His name is Michael Guenther.
Thanks for your continued support of graphite artists and their work.
Someday maybe I’ll be good enough to be featured, too.
    Happy Trails.

We love to feature all kinds of graphite artists! If you can give me a link to Michael Guenther’s work, or a way to contact him, I can reach out to him and feature him as well. If you don’t mind, you can also shoot me an email with your work and I can see about featuring your work. I believe that as long as the featured artists display a loving relationship with art and graphite, I would be happy to get you featured.

      Thanks,
      Nick
